Looking for a resource that you can give to someone who is grieving? Are you grieving and looking for a resource to help in the grieving process? Here are three short reads (~100 pages) for grieving people.
There is a brief description of each book so you can make the right purchasing decision.
- A Grief Observed, by C.S. Lewis. He wrote this book after the death of his wife. The book is a raw look at a man trying to understand the meaning behind her death. He is unabashed in his wrestling with the situation. In reading this book you will see a man completely broken who moves towards finding his hope in God.
- Grieving, Hope and Solace: When a Loved One Dies in Christ, by Albert N. Martin. In this book, Martin interweaves his own story with pastoral explanation of key scripture passages. In this book, “you will learn what God tells us with regard to the burning questions that so often accompany the death of a loved one in Christ. There is comfort for the grief. There are answers to the questions. The Bible does offer hope, solace, healing, and confidence.”
- God’s Healing for Life’s Losses: How to Find Hope When You’re Hurting, by Robert Kellemen. This book is written from a biblical counselor’s perspective. It has great content with the added bonus of questions to answer in each chapter. Kellemen encourages readers to keep a journal while reading through the book. This is extremely helpful for those in the middle of the grieving process who want some help thinking biblical about their situation.
