Often God changes our direction in life in unexpected ways. Tamila and I have experienced this life lesson in the past few months. Through lots of prayer and discussion Eastside Community Church, the church plant which we have served at the past three years, has decided to merge with another local church in our area named Crossing Community Church.
What is a church merge? This is a great question. It means that we are coming together to have a greater gospel impact in our area, city and world. Both churches desire for the name of Christ to be proclaimed around this world, and we think that we are “better together.”
What does this look like? On paper, there are many ideas. In practice, we will see as we go along. Every member has been called to be flexible because it will be a process. If you want to read more about the details you can read the merger document.
What about the Griswolds? There have been many conversations in the process of this merge, and my (Jeremy’s) role being one of those conversations. As of now, I will still be leading a small group and most likely serving in music, but I will not continue on as an intern (like I was at Eastside). During this time, Tamila and I will be able to assess both of our roles in ministry, and we hope to serve in a ministry together.
We cannot say how excited (and a little nervous) we are about this whole process. We know that God is faithful, and so we rest in him daily. Thank you for your love and support. We appreciate the prayers of God’s people.
Looking forward to seeing what He does in this new season,
Jeremy and Tamila
