The 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. Southern Seminary used this as the theme for the 2013 Fall Festival. One of the best features of the 1904 World’s Fair was the Palace of Electricity. Nine months ago, in a planning meeting, there was idea to create a light show as the “final act” of the evening. After some research we settled on a pixel-mapping show, yet we didn’t know where to start. So, we called our friend Stuart Hunt, who agreed to put together a show for us even though it was a new endeavor for him. Then we all hoped that it would run smoothly.
This light show took an army of people to pull off. From someone to calculate proper power requirements, to projector setup, to setting up scaffolding, to whiting out windows, to pyrotechnics, I am deeply grateful for the amount of people who worked with us on the show. Further, I appreciate our media team who serves with joyful hearts, no matter what they are asked to do.
Finally, many thanks to everyone who played a role in the festival. So many people gave of their time to serve the SBTS community. One of the many reasons I love working for Southern Seminary.
Here are two videos from the festival. The first is an overview of the event and the second is the light show itself. Enjoy.
