Celebrating the End of a Long Journey
Seven years ago, God confirmed my call to pastoral ministry on a summer mission trip. Over the next two years, I decided that I wanted to study at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2010, I packed up my Toyota Corolla to move to Louisville, KY to start my studies. After the first school year, Tamila and I got married, packed her car up and moved her to Louisville.
Over the last five years I have taken over 30 classes, read over 140 books, written over 150,000 words, and studied the Greek and Hebrew languages. I have had long days, late nights and lots of caffeine. I have survived with the help of many friends, a loving and gracious wife and stamina given by the Spirit of God.
On May 14, 2015, I will officially graduate from Southern Seminary with my Masters of Divinity in Christian Ministry. Tamila and I are extremely excited to begin a new chapter of life without schoolwork looming over our heads. We are already making plans for this next chapter.
What’s Next?
For now, Tamila and I have decided that we will stay in Louisville. I love my job as Director of Event Productions. Tamila has decided to be a leader in Bible Study Fellowship next school year. Both are wonderful opportunities for us to grow in the gifts God has given.
Our church is currently in the middle of a pastoral search, we are hoping to help through this season of transition. We will also continue to serve the ministries we are currently serving: music, care team and small group leadership.
We are hoping to take some time off to travel. We believe that an overseas trip is in our near future. We are working out the details currently, but we are hoping somewhere in Europe.
Finally, I am working on two writing projects. One will be a short biography of my dad (please check out the link below, I need your help with this project). The second is a book about the death of my father, which I am currently calling The Mourning Soul.
A Huge Thank You
We cannot thank you enough for your your love and care for us over these past five years. Many of you have prayed for us, supported us through different financial means and taken time to reach out to us to just “see how we were doing.” We are overwhelmed by the support you have given us. We cannot do enough to thank you all.
